Men are going hi-top

The coolest hairstyle this season seems to be the hi-top fade cut, marked by slicked back hair with cropped sides and a short back.

A constant on men’s fashion shows and magazines since the past few months, it has become a rage with stylish men in their 20s to 40s. Grooming experts predict it will be the hottest hairstyle for men to sport this season.
SPOTTED ON: Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, British footballer David Beckham, American singers Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, and Hollywood actors George Clooney and Tom Hardy.
ORIGIN: The hi-top fade-cut haircut symbolised the golden era of hip hop from the late 1980s to the early 90s. It faded out among young people over time until its recent comeback.
HOW TO GET IT: Leave the top long but the sides and back of your mane ultra cropped. Use a generous dollop of hair gel to sweep your locks back cleanly. The long hair should appear like it’s gradually fading into the short.
WHY IT WORKS: It is a clean yet edgy look that suits most occasions, whether it’s a barbeque party, a weekend sojourn or a formal sit-down dinner. It doesn’t require much maintenance and grows out easily.

BEST FOR: Men with wavy, curly or thick hair, since pruning it cuts down the volume and frizz.

LATEST UPDATE: The modern variation that hairstylists are going gaga over is the way actor Brad Pitt is wearing it for his next film, with the sides closely shaved.
