A quirky name and a tech touch are what set Purple Ape, the newest salon in town, apart. The WiFi-enabled parlour at 31/2A Sadananda Road (near Kalighat Metro station) offers busy clients on the move use of laptops with Wi-Fi connectivity free of cost while getting themselves pampered. This 3,000-sq-ft Schwarzkopf salon is spread over three floors offering haircuts, hair spa treatments and skincare treatments. The upper level has a professional technical centre that will offer training on the latest international trends and hair and related services by experts from Schwarzkopf. Purple Ape was launched with a fashion show at Tangerine that showcased the different hairstyling trends. “The emphasis is on texturing and layers with lots of fringes. As far as colouring is concerned, the look works with soft and bold tones to create fused colours,” said Nitin Manchanda, regional technical head, Schwarzkopf. The looks showcased included a feminine style called Glitterati in shades of gold copper and blonde; Distinguished Divinity which was bolder with dark hair with striking bands of red along with a layered hairstyle with a fringe; Glam Girl which was a curly look with vibrant blonde, gold and copper highlights among others. Men’s hairstyles have also gone longer with a texturised look with contrasting and blended tones. The brand ambassador of the salon is model and actor Rajiv Roda who is beginning his career in Bollywood after having walked the ramp and worked both in front of as well as behind the camera. His tousled look with natural curls and layering of blondes and browns is one of the styles for men showcased at the show. “The look is casual and suited to the Indian face with an international appeal,” said Roda. Prices for women’s haircuts are between Rs 300 to Rs 600. Colouring starts at Rs 600 and goes up to Rs 4,500. A haircut for men costs Rs 250-plus and colouring is priced between Rs 600 and Rs 1,800. The salon is open from 10am to 8pm, through the week. |
